It was January of 2024, and I was in the middle of the Nevada desert. Why, you ask? SHOT Show’s Industry Day at the Range, of course!
At the time, I didn’t own any suppressors but was heavily researching which one I’d get first. I knew I wanted to start with a suppressor for my home defense AR-15, so when I saw the stubby Speed K, I was instantly intrigued.

The short overall length is what really caught my eye, but once I learned that it passed seven rounds of SOCOM testing and only increases blowback by 5.8%, it had my full attention.

Fast forward a year and a half, and I still hadn’t “pulled the trigger” on a suppressor. I wound up chatting with the team at Silencer Central, and it finally happened…my first suppressor was ordered. Shoutout to Silencer Central for sending out a Speed K for this review!
Right out of the box, the first thing that stood out to me was the overall build quality. I didn’t get to handle the suppressor on its own until this point, as it was already mounted to the rifle when I first shot it.

The finish was perfect, it has some decent weight, and everything about it gives off the impression it’s ready for hard use, not just well-marketed. That’s not surprising, though, as it was designed in partnership with Federal Ammunition and law enforcement professionals.

I mounted it very quickly, and as I remembered, the suppressor keeps the rifle feeling compact and agile.
This is especially noticeable when moving between targets or working in tighter spaces where longer suppressors start to get in the way.

At the range, the Speed K really shines in practical use. While it’s not designed to be the quietest suppressor on the market, it does an excellent job of reducing concussion and acts as a flash hider.
The difference in concussion is immediately noticeable, both for the shooter and anyone next to you.

What impressed me most was how well it manages blast without excessive back pressure. I tested it with several types of ammo and put about 450 rounds through it so far, with no issues.
The rifle shot smoothly and stayed on target even easier, thanks to the extra weight keeping the muzzle down through recoil, and I didn’t notice any changes in accuracy.
I don’t usually shoot at distances outside of 50 yards, so I can’t speak to how it would affect shots at 100+ yards, but for a close-quarters style suppressor, I’m not worried about that.

My favorite feature by far is the Controlled-flow technology, which uses a vented 4th baffle and five holes at the end of the suppressor to mitigate backpressure.
Nobody wants a face completely full of gas when shooting, and the Speed K keeps them to a minimum.

You’ll also have plenty of mounting solutions available. Between the industry standard HUB mount and the ability to use the direct thread mount, there shouldn’t be a rifle you can’t use it with (caliber depending, of course).

An important feature to keep in mind is that the Speed K is 3D printed Inconel, meaning it’s not going to be self-serviceable. Some people place that ability high on their must-haves, so it’s worth noting.
I honestly never wanted to jump through the hoops of getting a suppressor (I know it’s a lame excuse), but I knew it was only a matter of time before I gave in.
However, with Silencer Central, there weren’t really any hoops to jump through as they make the entire process smooth and painless. For anyone who’s dealt with NFA items before, you know the paperwork and logistics can feel overwhelming.
Silencer Central walks you through each step, handles the paperwork, sends a fingerprint kit to your home, and keeps everything organized from start to finish. The communication was clear, the process was streamlined, and there was never any confusion about what was happening next.
At the end of the process, the suppressor gets sent straight to your door once everything is approved. For first-time buyers especially, this level of support is a game-changer. I wish I had done this a VERY long time ago.
After spending time with the BANISH Speed K, it’s clear this suppressor was designed for shooters who prioritize balance and real-world performance. It delivers meaningful suppression in a compact package while keeping the rifle fast and light.
If you like the Speed K but want to reduce the weight a bit, you can check out the Speed K Ti, which is made from titanium. It’ll cost you more, but only you can decide if the weight is worth the price.
At the end of the day, if you’re looking for a compact and durable suppressor that integrates seamlessly into your setup, the Speed K is definitely worth placing on your short list.
